As a writer
I write both fictional and commercial content. In the realm of fiction, my focus has been primarily on writing short films, with a majority falling under the genres of drama and comedy. On the commercial side, I've served as a writer for various television and social media commercials in Panama. I have conceptualized and developed scripts for brands such as McDonald's, Head & Shoulders, and the Panama Canal. Additionally, I have conceptualized and guided entertainment segments for national television in Panama.

How could I help you
As a director
I've directed many commercials and short films. For commercials, I've worked with different brands like Head & Shoulders and Más Móvil (one of the mayor telephonic companies in Panama). My latest project, Ojue, had scenes with more than 75 people on set, so I have experience directing in both intimate spaces and at big scale. I like paying attention to details, looking for visual metaphors in how things are set up and filmed. But the most important thing for me when directing is always the emotions of the audience. Making people feel something in a subtle and organic way is my main goal.
What I do

As a production designer
As a production designer, I have worked on several short films. I've built hospital rooms in completely empty spaces, futuristic clinics where characters buy memories from others, staged weddings, birthdays, and rooms that represent the personality of the character living in them. Production design, to me, is a crucial tool for character building and is essential for immersing the audience in the story. One of my priorities is to be responsible and efficient with the budget given to me, aiming to achieve a lot with the resources at hand. I also collaborate with my director in shaping the aesthetic story of the project, starting as early as the director desires. Understanding that each director works differently, I consider myself highly adaptable.

As an editor
I worked on Panamanian national television, editing my entertainment segment just minutes before it went on air. I've edited various short films of different genres and styles, making me an editor adaptable to the expectations and references of those who hire me. I will always prioritize the emotional impact of my editing and seek to make the most of what has been captured on set. Additionally, I have experience editing content for social media. I worked as a content creator for 7 years, amassing a total of 4.5 million followers on TikTok and 290,000 on Instagram. This background helps me understand how to edit a piece that grabs the attention of users. I’m efficient in Final Cut and DaVinci Resolve. I highly respect deadlines and manage a work schedule with multiple edits to ensure I deliver what the client is looking for.

A panamanian fashion designer living in the US, who is embarrassed about her culture, is forced to bring her dad with dementia (who is convinced that he is still in Panama) to her most important exhibition.
When I was a child, I used to find many of the sounds that my dad made kinda annoying. One of them being the Panamanian scream: Ojue. For a long time, I didn't feel similar enough to my cousins from the countryside. They liked to play a lot of sports, go to the farm, had a different sense of humor, and a different way of living in general. That made me feel like I wasn't "from Las Tablas" enough (the town I'm from in Panama). I used to feel that I wasn't exactly what my dad was expecting as a son. Then I comprehended: there's not just one way of being from Las Tablas.
After coming to the US for college, I found in myself many characteristics and personality traits influenced by my culture. It made me see how influential Panama has been in shaping who I am. For my BFA in Filmmaking thesis project, I wanted to do something personal, so I decided to write about the dilemma I used to have as a child. I put it in the context of a character who is not just insecure about her town but about her own country. I wanted to use this short film as an excuse to create a collage about the things from Panama that I love the most: how obsessed some people are with the national lottery, Panamanian cones, carnivals, etc. All the things I've been missing the most since coming to the US.
Alberto is essentially my dad, and I am essentially Laura. My dad even plays the role of Adult Alberto in the short film. The difference is that I'm into filmmaking, and Laura is into fashion. Fortunately, I figured everything out with my dad when I was a teenager. But the similarity between both of us is that we can finally do a Panamanian scream proudly and without shame; we can finally scream OJUE!

Eric, a 60-year-old man, is about to die after being hit by a car. Moments before the accident, he appears at Goodbye, a company from the afterlife where people decide on their last words before dying.
"Goodbye" is a story about a man who, even after having lived a long life, is unable to define and understand it to the point of summarizing it. Why? Because I feel that most of us can't, and I believe that many of us feel pressured to do so.
"Goodbye" is a story that invites its viewers to respect the different "ways of living" that people have. Some of us have one single priority, while others have many, and others are still trying to find it.
From kindergarten, we ask our children to decide what they want to be when they grow up. We expect everyone to have a best friend forever, a favorite color, and defined hobbies. This story wants you to know that you don't need to have these things defined.
I wrote this at a moment in my life when I had just moved to a whole new country, far away from a life that took me 20 years to build. As a consequence, I started doubting all my priorities and began asking questions about myself that I had never thought of while living with all my friends and family back in Panama. "Goodbye" is me telling myself that I don't need to have everything figured out, that I can enjoy the journey of discovering what my life is about. That's why I'm very glad to have directed it because it's very personal; it's a conversation with myself.

Celeste

Watch the trailer!
Celeste encapsulates the story of two lovers, Violet and Lily. The divine forces create a magical encounter between them in the limbo state of life. By unraveling their hearts, truth and forgiveness are revealed.
"Celeste" is a short film written by Sara Soler and directed by Fernando Broce. It is Sara's Thesis Film for the New York Film Academy.
"Celeste" was born from the concept of unlocking one's heart by inviting unconditional love and forgiveness. Fernando and Sara want to encourage their audiences to share LOVE with others. Sara's primary purpose is to challenge the way we perceive mistakes and truth. Also, to uplift humans to love, live fully, enjoy life, have fun with the people they hold close, kiss, and have a beautiful life experience here on earth. And the way to achieve that is by being BRAVE.
Fernando's perspective on the film is related to friendship and that these connections are worth keeping for a lifetime. Some connections grow, and others fade away. Perhaps certain connections create passionate feelings inside of us that we don't dare to express.
"Celeste" was born to encapsulate in seven minutes what neither Fernando nor Sara (the lead character and writer of the short film) have dared to bring light to before. They decided to incorporate two women's main characters (Lily and Violet) as a medium for their message. Every decision in this project aimed to create an intimate and nostalgic encounter between them—a magical encounter held by the divine forces.
